Losing the person you love. Distance, feelings felt but not communicated, misunderstandings, wrong timing, incapacity to fulfill your expectations, lack of trust, death. Many reasons can push a relationship to end, unwillingly and unexpectedly. Although the love is strong, there are battles one cannot win. Strength and drive can get you so far, but how does one overcome the bumps that you do not control ? Life sometimes pushes us into tight corners with no escape. And you sit and wait, while the world around you shifts and carries on. How does one free oneself from that claustrophobic alcove ? Time will carry on while you stay hidden in the past. Light barely keeping you alive, while you revisit the memories of the dead. A feeling stronger than you magnetises you to the reminiscence of their touch and of their voice. I miss them, you tell yourself. But they follow you, like ghosts. In every joke, you hear their laugh. In every silence, you feel their breath. In every sleep, you see their face. The person you love is gone but the memory of them lives on forever.

The tales of a waitress
I often find myself reminiscing about the few months I spent waitressing in a French Brasserie not so far from the Seine in the 5th arrondissement. It was a pleasant experience, seasoned with daunting psychological horror stories. Looking back on those days, I was constantly stressed : What if my tray, loaded with beers and cocktails, fell to the ground and splashed onto customers ? What if I forgot the order of a table of 10 people ? What if I had to wait on a table of 10 people ?
But there were these few moments where I felt completely at peace. When I would bartend during the day shifts and talk with the regulars. When I would perfect a cappuccino for a customer : three distinct layers of milk / double expresso / foam and a dash of cocoa powder as the cherry on top. When that same customer would compliment my masterpiece. It was those social interactions that kept me working at that place.I also enjoyed people watching, it gave me a sense of tranquility observing the lives of others. Seeing a man sipping his green tea while reading a book. Seeing a woman alone at a table, enjoying the warmth of her hot chocolate, awaiting her date, then her date arrives and they embrace. Serving a couple multiple rounds of beers and seeing them laugh and giggle all night long. The comfort of a family sitting around a table sharing a meal. Or a book club getting together writing and discussing all while drinking des cafés crèmes.
I miss the people. Being a part of their individual personal experiences and trying as best as I can to enhance it without them even noticing.

FASHION DESIGNA by the Franco-Congolese hip hop artist THEODORA is by far the best music video I've ever seen in my life. The experimental research on colouring combined with the juxtaposition of video clips gives to the overall result a sense of identity. It pulls you into this deserted utopian universe where space feels blurred and time is none existent. It feels as if I've just awakened from a dream that I desperately searched to recreate.
